I Saw God Today
George Strait has a country song that says, “Saw a flower growin’ in the middle of the sidewalk.  Pushin’ up through the concrete….I saw God today….I’ve been to church.  I’ve read the book….His fingerprints are everywhere….Opened my eyes and man I swear.  I saw God today.”
It hasn’t been until recent years that I’ve come to see God in the most unlikely of places.  I used to think that God was to be found in those Holy places like Church and Sunday school, and He is.  But, more often than not, the places where I see God today are far beyond the confines of a building or even the pages of a most Holy book.
How could you, even if you tried, imprison our infinite God to such finite places?  As the song says, “I’ve been to church, I’ve read the book.  I know He’s here, but I don’t look.”  Too often, those words are real in my life.  I don’t look.  But, I’ve been fortunate.  Blessed, if you will.  Blessed to see God today.
Appalachia has a myriad of problems, not the least of which, is pitiable housing.  For several years now, ICM has had the opportunity to work with mission teams who come to this area for the purpose of performing home improvements.  Thus far, this year, we’ve worked with three teams on four such homes.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you see the depth of poverty and anguish that plagues this area.  Sometimes, the people are so overwhelmed that they just give up trying.  But, when I saw God today, He showed me something.  He showed me that changing one room can change a whole house.  It was just as when I invited Him into my soul that He became a part of my entire being.
“I don’t look near as often as I should.  Yeah, I know I should.  His fingerprints are everywhere.  I just slowed down to stop and stare.  Opened my eyes and man I swear.  I saw God today.”
Thank you to those who help us to see God.
Happy Easter

Verses of the Month
(Luke 24: 1-6)

Now upon the first day of the week,
very early in the morning, they came
unto the sepulchre,
 bringing the spices which they
had prepared,
and certain others with them.  And they
found the stone rolled
away from the sepulchre.  And
they entered in, and found not the body of
the Lord Jesus.  And it came to pass,
as they were much perplexed thereabout,
behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
And as they were afraid,
and bowed down their faces to the earth,
they said unto them,
Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen.
